JJ Tickets Now Available For Purchase!
The annual Jefferson-Jackson Weekend will be held June 9 and 10 at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at www.fladems.com/jj. In addition, we are offering a new way to purchase your tickets online. You can sign up to pay in three, interest-free monthly payments if you submit your first payment by April 5 at www.fladems.com/jjmonthly. It's going to be a great event, and we hope you can make it!

We Can Add Another Democrat To The State House - In Just One Month.
Please help Democrat Darren Soto become the next State Representative from District 49. The Republicans won this seat in 2002 and used their incumbent as the poster child for Puerto Rican outreach during President Bush's re-election. Now we can take this seat back. (In 2006, the Florida Democratic Party won the state's Hispanic vote for the first time since 1976. Let's keep this momentum going!)

We must do what we can to ensure Soto's election and help deliver Central Florida to the Democratic presidential nominee in 2008. Please donate to his campaign today. Learn more about him at www.fladems.com/soto.

Florida Faculty Vote 38-28 To Deny Bush Honorary Degree The University of Florida Faculty Senate voted to deny former Governor Jeb Bush an honorary degree. Though Bush claimed to be the "education governor," many education professionals have been critical of his record as governor. "I really don't feel this is a person who has been a supporter of UF," Kathleen Price, Associate Dean of Library and Technology at UF's Levin College of Law, told the Gainesville Sun after the vote.
In other campus news, the Gators men's basketball team beat Oregon 85-77 on Sunday to earn the chance to represent the state of Florida in the NCAA Final Four. The Party wishes the best of luck to the Gators in their quest to repeat last year's national championship victory.

Democratic Black Caucus To Hold Convention In Jax, May 18-19
The Florida Democratic Party's Black Caucus will hold its 2007 Convention - "Democrats Attaining Self Empowerment through the Black Caucus Experience" - at the Holiday Inn Airport in Jacksonville, May 18-19. The Convention will feature seminars on effective campaign techniques, a panel discussion with representatives from Democratic presidential candidates, and an Award's Banquet with a keynote address by Florida's 3rd District Congresswoman Corrine Brown. For more information, contact Daisy Black, Caucus President at 305-754-6141 or Sandra Glover, Convention Chair, at 904-757-2050.

Secretary Of State Delivers Updated Voter File...
Since receiving the updated file from the SOS last week, the Party has been working to verify its validity. If the file is correct, we hope to have it updated and available by the end of the week.

Which Presidential Candidates Do YOU Want To See Most?
Don't worry, you don't have to commit to a candidate today. Just let us know which candidate or candidates you are most interested in seeing, up close and personal, in our great state. We'll do our best to bring them here, and keep you informed of their visits.

It'll take you just a minute to make your selections today!

B.J. Chiszar Hired As Regional Director
The Party is pleased to announce the hiring of Benjamin "B.J." Chiszar as Regional Director for Miami-Dade, Collier, and Monroe Counties. He brings extensive experience as a public servant and a history of dedication to the Democratic Party to his appointment, and we expect him to be a valuable asset in our 2008 campaign effort. If you live in his region and want to get involved, please contact B.J. at bchiszar@fladems.com.
