Connie Mack

Preaches penny-pinching on campaign trail, but has past of debt and liens.

Court records show how Congressman and Republican Senate candidate Connie Mack has had lots of struggles — with borrowing, spending, his ex-wife and bar fights.

Congressman Connie Mack has made penny-pinching debt-reduction central to his U.S. Senate campaign, but privately he has struggled at times with borrowing and paying his own obligations, court records show...More

Rick Santorum: Obama Agenda Not 'Based On Bible'

Sen. Rick Santorum has made a serious mistake. Santorum's recent comments should be a major turn off to anyone who understand that while all politics are informed by values, religious and secular, we should be very wary when politicians begin to assert religious creedal tests into electoral politics...More

Republican Gerrymandering Leads to Lawsuit

Republican Governor Rick Scott and the GOP-led Legislature are attempting to retain a stranglehold on state government and cement their control in Tallahassee for another decade by gerrymandering Florida's maps as was done in 2002.

Concerned voters, in conjunction with the Florida Democratic Party, filed a lawsuit in state court to challenge the constitutionality of the congressional map which violates the Fair District Amendments and seeks to suppress the voice of Florida's citizens. We will also vigorously challenge the state legislative maps...More

Martin County DEC Resolutions

Resolved January 16th 2012:
THE MARTIN COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN SUPPORT OF A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO OVERTURN CITIZENS UNITED AND RECLAIM OUR DEMOCRACY:

WHEREAS, the U.S. Supreme Court has granted corporations the status of persons and equated money with speech, although these ideas are mentioned nowhere in the Constitution; and,

WHEREAS, in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission the court decided that limiting corporate electoral spending violates the "free speech rights" of corporate "persons";

THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF MARTIN COUNTY calls for amending the United States and Florida Constitutions to declare that corporations are not entitled to the protections or "rights" of human beings and to declare that the expenditure of corporate money is not a form of constitutionally protected speech.

FURTHER RESOLVED, the Martin County Democratic Party will advocate for integration of this position into the state and national platform of the Democratic Party.

Resolved October 17th 2011:
The Martin County Democratic Party is standing with Occupy Wall Street.

Whereas: The message of Occupy Wall Street is the message of the American people.
No longer may the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street. It's time for these policy pampered millionaires, billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share.

In doing so we are standing against economic policies that hurt the middle class and working families while protecting financial and tax loopholes for multi-millionaires and corporations.
