This year has seen a metamorphosis of the Democratic Party of Martin County.
2004 election results showed an amazing improvement in Martin County. We were second in the State for improved election results. After the election our volunteers and precinct captains vowed to keep the momentum going and our public visibility high. To that end we have:
Established permanent a office which is staffed from 10-1 daily with energetic volunteers.
Strengthened our grass roots efforts by enlisting more precinct captains. We have effectively doubled our Democratic Executive Committee numbers since January. Our goal is to enlist 80 captains to run the precincts and reach ALL of the eligible voters in the county.
Established a Democratic Women's Club, A Democratic Singles Club and a Democratic Business Alliance in addition to the Democratic Club founded 2 years ago.
Formed a new "watch dog" committee that monitors the activity at City and County Commission meetings. Our insistence at Commission meetings that low-income housing is a priority is finally being acted upon.
Doubled our list of volunteers and contacts by creating a first class web site and making e-mail our primary method of contact for speed and efficiency.
The Democratic Party of Martin County is quickly being recognized by all voters as a power to be reckoned with. We must keep the energy going. In 2006 it is our goal to field candidates for County Commission, State Representative and Senator. That will take funds to support these candidates properly.
