Become a 2008 Democratic National Convention Delegate

2008 Democratic National Convention Delegate Forms for district-level delegate candidates are now available at www.fladems.com/2008DNC. Your local Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) will accept completed applications between December 3, 2007 at 9 AM and January 29, 2008 at Noon.

Any Florida voter who is registered as a Democrat as of Dec. 31, 2007 may qualify as a candidate for district-level delegate or alternate by submitting the following forms:

  • Loyalty Oath (Must be submitted even if you have already completed one previously)
  • Statement of Candidacy & Pledge of Support.

Forms must be submitted to the Chair, Vice Chair, State Committeewoman or State Committeeman of Martin County DEC by the deadline.

Qualifying period:

Begins - Monday, December 3, 2007 at 9 AM EST
Closes - Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 12 PM EST


Florida is allocated 121 district-level delegates and 25 district-level alternates.

District-level delegates and alternates will be allocated to presidential candidates through a proportional representation system based on the January 29, 2008 Primary. The post-primary congressional district caucuses will be held on March 1, 2008. Locations and times TBA.

All district-level delegate candidates must be identified as to a presidential preference or to an uncommitted status.

Participation in Florida's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats and register as such by December 31, 2007.
